I’m late posting because I drew a blank on this topic. But looking at some other photos and going again through my limited files (only had the digital camera for a few months), I decided to put this photo up.
This is a bronze grouping at a well known lookout point in Vancouver. As you can see it is a lifesize group, having its photo taken in front of the panoramic view. Opposite, about 8 feet away, is the bronze photographer, camera at eye level and with his hand out to stop the passersby walking into the picture.
So many people walk around the corner and say sorry, as if they are real people. A very amusing local statue, and very unique, therefore I assume qualifies as rare.

What a great set of sculptures and I bet it is funny to have people say “excuse me” to them! Great choice for the theme this week!

I love life-sized sculptures! It really is very funny to turn a corner and say, “oh, I’m sorry, excuse me and then look into a pair of bronze eyes!” It happened to me one time…much embarrassment! LOLGreat photo – and thank you for visiting mine too!Happy Saturday :x)

What a great photo and view! We’re planning a vacation up north during the summer – I’d love to know where this beautiful view is!

Rare – and cool. I’d probably be one of those saying excuse me, and then have to laugh at myself! I actually did that in a museum once – I was SURE the statue was a real person! Great photo!

Great group of sculptures!Happy Weekend!

What great idea! it does seem rare. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Just having people run into and apologize is funny too!
April 28, 2007 at 1:41 pm
Great job on the “rare” them. How funny that people apologize to a statue. š
April 28, 2007 at 1:47 pm
You’re right, I guess that is rare! What a cool sculpture, great shot, and thanks for dropping by. Happy hunting!

It would be interesting to see the entire set of sculptures including the photographer. I suppose this time YOU were the photographer, though. š Thanks for stopping by my blog. I see you have a Westie. I used to have a Westie when I when I young. I love the way they make you feel like you are the best thing on the planet when you come home from being out. I have a Boston Terrier now. He’s a good dog. BTs are a nice breed. Not quite as fiesty as a Westie or other true terriers, but a perfect fit for my family. God bless!

Hi jmb –Nice choice of subject! And teeheehee re people walking around and saying sorry. (The visitors to that spot sure sound like nice folks… ;D)Also, if it’s any consolation, you’re not the only one who had to do some extra mulling and thinking to figure out what to put up for this week’s Photo Hunt. E.g., in my case, I thought up and rejected three other photos as having subjects that weren’t rare enough before I finally put up and stuck with the one that I did! ;S

Omigosh, this is too funny…when I was in Vancouver for Expo 86, I went to this place and when I saw the “people” posing to have their picture taken, I just waited. My brother asked me what I was doing then I realized it was statues! lol I actually have a picture taken of me with the statues:-) Love it!

That’s great ipanema. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with. It took me quite a while to figure out the blogroll. I only had words at first to link to, then I found someone in the blogosphere to help me add the widget which links to tnchick’s site.

I love this and have to admit rather sheepishly that I was one of those who was not paying attention and apologized for bumping into them. My friends thought it was hilarious and I’m still teased to this day. Great photo Jmb.

I, too, have come around the corner and apologized to these people. I was alone at the time, and felt very stupid. I stood staring at them for the longtest time, I’m sure I looked like the fourth statue. What is the photo hunt?Josie

I apologised to a store display once when I bumped into it! I looked around quickly to make sure no one had heard me! š

That so reminds me of Madame Tussauds in London! My emotion was the same, I *knew* the weren’t real but that’s not how I acted…my dogs are the same with our old scarecrow (Dame Edna Everage) they used to growl and walk a wide berth…So funny!Pam

I’d likely be on to think they were real. =) Great snapshot!
